St Luke’s Lodge ended the 2015/16 masonic season in style on 15 April when RW. Bro Stuart Hadler, Provincial Grand Master for Somerset, attended its Meeting to present W. Bro David George with a 60 years in Freemasonry Certificate.
In making this presentation the Provincial Grand Master spoke with David about his childhood (born in Malta), upbringing (in Gourock, Glasgow) professional career (worked in various photographic units within the Admiralty, rising to become Head of Profession for the MOD before retiring after more than forty years of service), Craft Masonic activities (Initiated into Lodge Firth of Clyde No. 626 (Scottish Constitution) on 9 April 1956, joined St Luke’s Lodge No. 6540 in December 1976 progressing to become Worshipful Master in 1990 then Secretary for 9 years, Director of Ceremonies for 6 years and Assistant Director of Ceremonies for 9 years) and achievements (Provincial appointments of PrSGD in 1996, PPrJGW in 2003 and recipient of the Provincial Grand Master’s Certificate of Merit in 2012).
David, who is now the 2nd longest serving member within St Luke’s Lodge and remains very active in all aspects of Lodge life, expressed the enjoyment that he has gained from his 60 years in Masonry and thanked all those Brethren who had helped / supported him across this time. The Provincial Grand Master was pleased to also present David with a 60 year Scottish Jubilee Certificate and convey accompanying congratulations from the Grand Lodge of Scotland. This memorable occasion was completed by prolonged acclamation from all of those present for David, a highly respected member of St Luke’s Lodge and Bath Masonry.
