On Monday June 20th Somerset Masters Lodge were presented with their Centenary Warrant by the Provincial Grand Master and his Team at an Extraordinary Meeting held at the Bath Masonic Hall.
Over 100 Brethren were in attendance to witness this very special occasion and following the presentation of the Centenary Warrant the Provincial Grand Master and his Team dedicated a new Lodge Banner which had been produced by Verity Morrs, wife of W Bro Roger Morss, a Member of the Lodge. Prior to this the Lodge had been the only one in Somerset not to have a Banner and everyone was extremely impressed with the quality of the finished article having taken over 1500 hours to make!
The Lodge was very pleased to receive the support of many other Provinces and one of the pictures shows Brethren from the Dorset Masters Lodge. The Lodge Secretary, W Bro David Perkins gave an account of the Consecration Meeting and has also produced a written history of the Lodge, copies of which are available from him through the Provincial Website.
Following the Meeting, the Brethren convened at the Hilton Hotel to enjoy an excellent luncheon and round off a very memorable day. 100 years ago the Consecration Luncheon had been held in Bath Assembly Rooms and cost the princely sum of 3/6d (17 1/2 pence in today’s money!!)
